A few weeks ago, we were sitting down with a brew chatting about Mr Will's beard and suchlike, when we stumbled upon an idea: could PistonHeads work as an annual publication?
It was then that we got to thinking….the site has a huge amount of content from 2009. Could we pull out the best bits and print them all onto dead tree product? If the Beano could produce an annual, then so could PH.
So that was that, we agreed that we would produce an annual publication containing all the best bits from 2009, and that we'd give it a decidedly Ronseal title - PistonHeads: The Best Bits 2009 (see what we did there?).
After four fun-filled weeks we now have a book that is almost 200 pages long, will be finished on a nice matt paper and has been written in a style to appeal to PHers far and wide. It’s humorous in its approach, adult in tone and unapologetic in its design. We’ll print around 15,000 copies (we have 3 million readers so it will be in very limited supply) and it will be sold for £5.99.
There will be some amusing content taken from the forums of PH, and those who have content within the book will have already received an email from me asking for their permission to use their comments (we are truly grateful). In addition to the forum content we will have the best (and worst) cars from 2009, a collection of the very best Sheds and the best reader events of the year. There will also be brand new content including ‘PHers' Garages’, where we visit the homes of a few PHers to get some picture of their cars and ask about what they are like to live with (the cars, not the PHers).
The book will go on sale on the 10th December and will be available through the PH homepage and in WHSmiths. Come the new year, selected Tesco stores will also hold some copies. However, as supply is limited we can also offer you the chance to pre-order by clicking on the link below. We'll despatch it to you as soon as it arrives from the printers so you won’t even need to leave home to get it…….a little bit like reading it online actually.
We reckon you'll enjoy it, and hope that you are all as excited with this as we are. PistonHeads – parchment matters.
