Two new high-performance off-roaders from Abu Dhabi will be revealed at the Dubai motor show next week - the Corvette V8-powered V-Guard and BodyGuard from a company named Alanqa.
The 620hp motor is enough to give the excitingly-styled machines, which are hefty beasts at 2,400kgs, a 130mph top speed and a 0-60mph sprint of around seven seconds.
Information is sketchy at the moment, but early reports say the vehicles have 650mm of ground clearance, and a GM transfer 'box that's switchable between two- and four-wheel drive. A big 200-litre fuel tank gives a range of 466 miles, even at around 8mpg, which presumably isn't too much of a problem if you've got an oil well in the back yard.
The new SUVs will cost between £75,000 and £200,000 depending on the level of customisation, and Alanqa apparently has a production target of 100 vehicles a year.
Apparently the company is hoping to find private as well as military buyers for the newcomers, so we'll be looking out for our first sightings in Knightsbridge soon.
