Looks like the new 9-5 won't see production
Saab’s one remaining lifeline has been snipped after
talks between Spyker and General Motors
GM now says that it will have to wind down Saab’s operations.
“We regret that we are not able to complete this transaction with Spyker Cars,” said GM Europe boss Nick Reilly in a statement.
A possible sale to Spyker Cars was the last hope for Saab after the collapse last month of negotiations between GM and a consortium led by Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg.
Beijing Auto also looked to be in the frame at one point, but that deal merely resulted in the Chinese company buying the rights to the outgoing Saab 9-5.
Reilly said that all debts would be paid and that Saab would be wound down in an orderly fashion.
