HSV-10 GT started out as NSX replacement
This is the first picture of the Honda HSV-10 GT racer, the car that is set to replace the venerable Honda NSX in the Japanese SuperGT championship.
As we reported back in November, underneath the carbon fibre skin is the chassis that was originally to become the road-going successor to the new NSX road car, until the global economic crisis caused the project to be shelved indefinitely.
But the HSV-10 has been granted a second life as a racer after the GT500 homologation regulations were tweaked to allow the front mid-engined car into the championship.
No official technical details have been released, but the car will push out at least 500bhp to the rear wheels via the same six-speed British-developed Ricardo sequential manual gearbox as its series rivals from Toyota and Nissan.
