Cadillac has finally revealed its CTS-V muscle-coupe, ahead of the car's official launch at the Detroit motor show later this month.
Following on from the launch of the regular Cadillac CTS coupe at the LA show back in November, the hot CTS-V version gets its premiere at Detroit before hitting US showrooms in the middle of the year.
As with the Cadillac CTS-V saloon from 2008, the CTS-V coupe gets a 556bhp, 551lb ft supercharged 6.2-litre V8 driving the rear wheels. The drive is transmitted via either a six-speed manual or six-speed paddle-shift auto.
Cadillac claims pretty dramatic performance, with 60mph arriving from rest in just 3.9secs. That's not too surprising, though, considering that the saloon was the first production four-door to duck under the eight-minute barrier at the Nordschleife.
Although the CTS-V coupe sits on the same wheelbase as the saloon, it is 51mm lower, 51mm shorter and runs on a 51mm wider track than the CTS-V saloon. In fact, only the instrument panel, centre console, headlamps, front bumpers and grille are common to both the CTS-V saloon and coupe.
The coupe also gets lower suspension, the clever magnetic ride control carried over from the saloon, 19-inch alloys, and bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres and Brembo brakes.
No details on the new CTS-V coupe's price have been revealed as yet.
