A new British name, Aspira, is to join the rarefied ranks of supercars with the global unveiling of its new F620 at the PistonHeads show.
F620, which we spotted last year undergoing the IVA testing process
, is now ready for the road, and order books are open.
The 500bhp F620 is powered by the familiar (and eminently tuneable) GM LS3 V8, with a trick air intake and fiddly exhausts helping to liberate an extra 70 or so bhp. A supercharged version is also planned.
The F620 is intended, say its creators Craig Gillingham and Henry Nickless, as an exclusive supercar, even though its expected price tag of around £140k is bang in Ferrari 458 territory (and some £60k less than the expected £200k price tag of the new Noble M600).
It's not an out-and-out track weapon, either. There's ABS, switchable traction control and a beautifully trimmed leather-and-aluminium interior.
"We're not aiming at the mass-market customer," says Craig. "We're only going to build 10-12 F620s a year. If you're in the market for a Ferrari, then you probably won't want this - it's too exclusive."
There's no doubt that the Aspira looks every inch the pukka supercar, and you can't argue with Aspira's lofty ambitions.
The PH Jury's out as to whether the new Aspira can really cut it as a supercar, however. But we will be able to tell you more when we get behind the wheel of one. Watch this space...
