This plastic-wrapped machine is the production version of Lexus's new compact hatch, according to the anonymous emailer who pinged them into news@pistonheads.com last night.
The new Lexus is due to take on the BMW 1-series and Audi A3 in the hard-fought 'premium compact' segment when it goes on sale in autumn this year.
We got a teaser as to how the new car will look with the LF-Ch concept from last year's Frankfurt show. Like the concept, the production car is likely to focus on hybrid tech - probably using the 2.4-litre four-cylinder set-up from the US-market HS250h hybrid saloon.
Judging by these pics, it looks as if the LF-Ch concept will be toned down for production, although the swoopy C-pillar (a little reminiscent of a Toyota iQ) remains.
