Tesla's electric Roadster is now available with right-hand-drive, as well as other enhancements the company says make its 2010 model-year machine ideal for daily commuting or weekend drives.
The Roadster costs from £86,950 and the latest upgrades include improved noise insulation and a more impressive sound system. Tesla says the car will easily travel more than 200 miles per charge in mixed driving, will out-accelerate (some) Porsches, and is twice as energy efficient as a Toyota Prius.
"The right-hand-drive model is our response to growing demand from high-performance car buyers in the UK who are also interested in their impact on the environment," says Cristiano Carlutti, Tesla's European head of operations. "Tesla is dramatically expanding its retail footprint in Europe, we look forward to building our community of owners and fans throughout the continent."
If you can cope with the range and re-charging regimes, there are various financial advantages to owning a Tesla Roadster - one being the 100 percent Writing Down Allowance for companies, which means they can deduct the whole price of the car from taxable profits. Tesla drivers can also escape the London congestion charge, and get free parking in various London boroughs.
Tesla in the US recently revealed the Roadster will be killed off after 2011, as it concentrates on bringing a new four-door electric saloon to market.
