This is the new Renault Megane Coupe Cabriolet, Renault's latest offering in a class almost exclusively reserved for hairdressers and poseurs.
Unlike other four-seat folding hard-top cabriolets, the new Megane CC gets a full-length two-piece glass roof, the largest fully glazed roof in its class.
As a result the car manages to sidestep the bulky, ungainly rooflines and large rumps of its peers such as the Focus CC and Peugeot 308 CC. The dark glass on the Megane CC is supported by a black frame, giving the impression of an all-glass roof.
The Megane CC also marks the debut of Renault's dual-clutch transmission. But don't get too excited - it's mated to a 108bhp 1.6-litre turbodiesel, and Renault is crowing about the 17 per cent efficiency gains rather than any performance edge.
Other motors include 138bhp and 128bhp four-cylinder petrols, and 128bhp and 158bhp diesels.
Us? We'd rather stick to the Megane Renaultsport 250...
