The wraps will come off this new Volvo S60 at the Geneva motor show next month, with an uprated 304hp 4x4 T6 model topping the launch line-up.
The new S60 is the most sporting Volvo ever built, according to the press release issued today with these pictures. Key elements of the dynamic package include a steering ratio that's 10 percent faster than the outgoing model, and greatly improved stiffness in the suspension mountings and subframes.
Technology advances include a wheel-braked version of 'torque vectoring', which works as part of the stability control system, and a refined version of the FOUR-C active-damper chassis control system can be specified on all models, they say.
As well as the new 304hp (and 325lb ft) T6 with its turbocharged 3.0 inline-six petrol, you'll be able to choose from a pair of diesels at launch. Both 5-cylinder jobs, the 2.4-litre D5 offers 205hp, and the 2.0-litre D3 163hp.
According to Volvo's figures, the T6 accelerates from 0-62mph in 6.5secs, and the top speed is 155mph. The transmission is Volvo's second-generation Geartronic six-speed auto.
There is a raft of safety gadgets as you might expect, including Driver Alert, Blind Spot Information, Lane Departure warning and a variety of other gizmos.
The first UK cars will be delivered in early summer, says Volvo, with prices and specs still TBC.
