Pick-up trucks don't often get much love here on the PH homepage, but Hennessey's take on Ford's F-150 SVT Raptor looks a bit of a giggle.
The Raptor is no shrinking violet in standard form, boasting a 310hp 5.4 litre V8 that, somewhat hindered by the F-150's humungous 2,630kg kerbweight, hauls the beast from 0-60mph in 8.4secs. Not amazing, but not really that bad for a showroom-spec monster dune-basher designed to excel off-road.
Hennessey's 'VelociRaptor 500' moves the game on a bit, thanks largely to a 9psi supercharger, uprated fuel system, exhaust and engine management. The result is a claimed 501bhp at 5,100rpm, and 520lb ft from 3,200rpm, which adds up to a claimed 5.6sec 0-60mph dash and a 14.1sec quarter mile time.
There's a kit available with all the necessary goodies at $11k from Hennessey Performance, and we're sure they'd be happy to mail across the pond...
