Audi has revealed its smallest family member, the A1, at the Geneva Show.
The A1, set to launch later this year, is designed to stand-off against the MINI in the premium supermini class.
We think it will start from £14,000 for the 85bhp 1.2-litre base model in the UK, going all the way to £23,000+ for the top spec 180bhp S1. And that's before you go nuts on the options list.
Based on the SEAT Ibiza and VW Polo platform, the A1 is nearly 100kgs lighter than the MINI it's competing with. Which means the 120bhp 1.4-litre version has near-identical power figures to a MINI Cooper, but is noticeably quicker.
It's also rather distinctive, too - the silver cant rail gives the A1 a unique profile, that will soon become its trademark on the road. Do we still think it looks like a Pluriel though?
Take note that the A1 comes with ESP and an electronic diff lock as standard. Just like a MINI Cooper. So Audi's not being too subtle about who they want to beat.
