The lightweight, hardcore Lamborghini is back, with the new Gallardo Superleggera breaking cover at the Geneva motor show.
Like the original Gallardo Superleggera from 2007, the new car focuses on handling and weight-saving rather than big power gains - the engine is near-identical to the LP560-4's, although power jumps by 10bhp.
Lamborghini has shaved around 40kg from the Gallardo's kerb weight, tipping the scales at 1340kg.
Most of the weight loss comes from extensive use of carbon fibre - the seats, door panels and centre console are all carbon. There's liberal use of it on the outside, too, on the mirrors, rear spoiler and sill covers.
Forged alloy wheels (chopping 13kg), and polycarbonate side windows and rear 'screen complete the weight-loss programme.
Stiffer reinforced mounts for the anti-roll bars and dampers, and a reworked aero package that increases downforce over the front axles should significantly sharpen-up the handling.
Lamborghini's E-gear paddle shift transmission is standard, but a six-speed manual is a no-cost option. Other options include a roll cage and four-point harnesses.
