Make do with an old unsigned poster...
Others may have been beaten PistonHeads to the scoop when
the Bloodhound Team unveiled its new car mock-up earlier this week
, but we've scored a brand new poster.
Yes, as rival newshounds concentrated on getting the facts about the latest launch from Wing Commander Andy Green and the team, your selfless PH editor selfishly concentrated on getting a signed souvenir poster of the fabulous Bloodhound 1000mph car for his office wall. (A dereliction of editorial duty I will attempt to justify by harping on about the £5 contribution made to this Great British project by purchasing the poster out of my own pocket.)
In fact the personal largesse didn't stop there, as I splashed out another personal fiver on a duplicate copy of the poster so the illustrious Wing Commander and Fastest Man On Earth could sign that, too.
...or hang a new one on the wall...
And that, friends, is how you could end up with one of a pair of the only 'Speed Matters' Bloodhound posters in the world today, as Andy was generous enough to scribe the PH motto above his signature on both of these highly collectible items.
One can't help thinking he'd agree with the sentiment of our motto, too, but sadly we can't claim an official endorsement of that nature. (That would have required an investment closer to £75k, according to site manager Garlick who made casual enquiries along those lines.)
Still every tenner counts, and if you want to send the team one of your own they'll even put your name on the real car's tail fin which sounds to us like a fantastic and unique way to enter the history books for posterity, should the record attempt be successful, of course.
...signed by Britain's very own FMoE.
Meanwhile, if you'd like to own our 'spare' Speed Matters poster, lob an email to
competitions@pistonheads.com
in the subject line, and we'll pick somebody at random to send it to.
Make sure your email includes your name, postal address and a telephone number so we can verify your existence. Your email must be received by Friday July 30th to go in the virtual hat, and we'll pick a winner after that.
(You can buy your own Bloodhound posters for a fiver here, but they won't be signed and there's an extra £3.50 P+P)
