We know that certain VXR owners are wont to do a bit of tweaking to their cars, but 3000 horsepower might be a bit extreme even for the most ambitious of Corsa VXR owners.
But that's what the most powerful Vauxhall - Red Victor 3 - will be sporting at Silverstone's VXR Power Festival this coming August bank holiday. And it all comes in street-legal form.
Many PHers will know the previous incarnations of Red Victor as the world's fastest street-legal dragster, and still more will know that keen PHers redvictor (Andy Frost) and Slinky (Wil Perry) are the men behind the project.
The news that the team, RedVictor1 Racing, is to be officially supported by Vauxhall is great news for the project, and the appearance of Red Victor 3 (the third iteration) at the VXR Power Festival will mark its public debut.
Beneath the bodywork of a deeply modified 1967 Vauxhall Victor FD lies a twin-turbocharged GM V8 with a whopping 8.8 litres of swept capacity.
Although RV3 is still in development, the Red Victor team reckons on a top speed, to begin with, of 240mph in the quarter-mile, which it should achieve in 6.5 seconds. And why not? their last project, Red Victor 2, was capable of nearly 200mph in the quarter-mile and 0-153mph in 4.8 seconds.
If you want to catch up with RV3 in the metal at Silverstone - and no doubt the Red Victor team - tickets for the VXR Power Festival are £10 and children under five get in free.
