We’ve been hearing whispers for a while now that
Gumpert is due to unveil an all-new second model
, called the Tornante, at the forthcoming Geneva motor show.
Now, the German supercar maker has revealed a little more about its plans for a second model, which has been styled by Italian coachbuilder Touring Superleggera.
The Tornante, so far revealed only in this blurry teaser pic, will only be a styling buck at Geneva, but is expected to hit the road in 2012, adding “elegance, space and comfort to a package rooted in motorsports and competition engineering” (or so says Gumpert).
The 4.2-litre twin-turbo V8 engine will develop around 690bhp in what Gumpert describes coyly as ‘basic’ trim and is derived from the Apollo supercar. The all-round double-wishbone suspension is also derived form the Apollo, but has been “adjusted to the requirements of the Fast Touring mission profile”.
