It's Horacio Pagani's latest masterpiece, and seeing it 'in the carbon' has left us momentarily speechless.
The hypercar with a name that sounds best when delivered in a Geordie accent is undoubtedly one of the stars of the Geneva show this year.
You probably know the spec off by heart already, but the Huayra features a twin turbo Mercedes Benz V12 instead of the old naturally aspirated 7.3-litre unit, with over 700bhp promised and an unbelievable 811lb ft of torque. Seeing as it has a seven-speed sequential gearbox (designed by Xtrac) and weighs just 1,350kg (dry), the performance should be right up there at Veyron levels of ferocity. After all, it has 512bhp/ton!
The Huayra (or C9 to give it its project number - anorak on: another Mercedes reference if you're a fan of old Group C racers: anorak off) takes Pagani in a new direction. It's sleeker, less showy than the last of the Zondas, and the mechanical parts under that unusual (but it's definitely growing on us...) skin are as much art as they are there for a purpose. From the major components right down to the titanium bolts at 60E a pop, never before has a car quite exuded this almost fetishist approach to engineering. It is completely, and utterly staggering, and all we require is a cool £1-Mill in the bank to spend quite evenings alone with one in our suitably lavish garage block. Oh well, we'll keep dreaming...
