PH team, yesterday. Mr Will is seated
For a few years now we have had a chap called Mr Will working here. That's actually not his name as his surname isn't Will at all, but he seems to like it and it kind of works, we suppose.
Anyway, often the butt of a joke here at PHHQ, William has taken the flak on his broad(ish) shoulders and has brushed it off to become one of the 'faces' of PH. Fortunately for you, PH is like radio and you don't actually have to see his face as often as we do.
For reasons unknown, the foolish chap has decided that he would rather work somewhere else, and a few days ago he waved an envelope under the nose of RacingPete. True to form, Pete left it on his desk for a while before opening it and realised the true horror that was his resignation letter. Of course, we had to accept it and decided that from that day forth that none of us would talk to him ever again.
As a result we now have to make his last few weeks as painful as possible and would like to remind you of when he called the colour of every raffle ticket out incorrectly at BTaP 09, or when he used to make the forums crash every night as he used the servers for 'private' use after hours. When you think of it like that, it's no loss really.
I'm sure he would have stopped reading this by now, so let's be more truthful. Will has been a good egg on PH and has been here 24-7 helping both forum members and advertisers alike. He has been on the gate at Sunday Service meets, been a key part of BTaP and has had at least 10 years taken from his young life by attending Dirty Dicks regularly.
Mr Will. Never looks at a camera (thankfully)
Join us in wishing Mr Will the best of luck in the future. I'm sure we'll see a lot of him on here still (
as he's not a mod anymore can I ban him?
) and as he moves into the city he will be able to attend DD's more easily too. Congratulations scruffy one, we'll miss you terribly and I'm sure the PHers reading this will feel the same way.
Of course, Will's loss is someone else's gain, and in fact we now have two empty techie chairs to fill. To qualify, you'll need to make a good brew and be able to make your name flash in a variety of colours on a ZX81. I was sure there was more to it so I asked RacingPete, as he's the one who knows about these things. He told me that we are looking for a recent or upcoming graduate who has studied maths or computer science, as well as being able to plug in a kettle.
In addition, we are looking for a senior dotNet developer to continue developing the site with MVC, ORM knowledge and strong engineering practices a definite advantage. If you understand any of that then you might be the person we are looking for. If (like me) you have no idea all we need to do is avoid people like this at dinner parties (only kidding, tech genius types).
If you like the sound of what Pete describes (and maybe even like cars too) then why don't you drop us a line to tell us, by e-mailing RacingPete? You never know, the hallowed (and slightly dirty) seat of Mr Will could be yours...
