Estoque concept and Mr Winkelmann
Lamborghini could be giving the nod to a production version of its recent Estoque concept, built on a platform shared with the next generation Porsche Panamera.
We think this a) because it's been speculated on before, and b) because Lambo's chief executive Stephan Winkelmann has just told an audience at the Reuters Global Luxury and Fashion Summit (What's that and why weren't we invited? Ed.) that his (or rather VW's since 1998) company is considering adding an 'everyday' model to its line-up.
Estoque concept without Mr... yes, that.
"We are going to have a third model. It has to be an everyday car. We want to have a car which is able to be used on a daily basis,"
Reuters reports
that Winkelmann told his (presumably) luxuriant and fashionable fellow summiteers. The group does not plan to work with a partner on the new model, Winkelmann said, but he added: "We will use synergies where possible within the (Volkswagen) group."
So, could the beautiful (from some angles) Estoque concept from the 2008 Paris motor show be about to stage a Porsche-empowered revival? And if so, why would anyone buy a Panamera?
Meanwhile, at least the 911 is safe.
