A new supercar from New Zealand will make its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next weekend - the Hulme CanAm Spyder.
Readers with elephant-like memories may remember that we last reported on the Hulme, whose name honours New Zealand's one and only F1 world champion driver, back in 2010. Back then we revealed that the Kiwi supercar would come with a price tag of £295k plus local taxes, that 20 examples would be made, and that the LS7 Corvette V8 powering it would offer up 600bhp and 443lb ft of torque.
Those with even greater power of recall may remember that the Hulme CanAm first appeared in concept coupe form at the Festival of Speed in 2006, so it is perhaps fitting that the production version (which will be granted European small series type approval) should make its own UK debut at the FoS.
Although Hulme claims the CanAm Spyder's technology to be F1-inspired (a la Caparo), the orange paint scheme, name and general shape are clearly more than a minor nod to the two CanAm championships that Denny Hulme won at the wheel of a McLaren in 1968 and 1970.
Deliveries of the sub-1000kg, 200mph track monster are expected to begin sometime next year, on the 20th anniversary of Denny Hulme's death.
