With Le Mans still keeping us on a high, allow PH to maintain the excitement by adding another European date to your calendar. Between 23rd and 25th September, might we humbly suggest you head to the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit for a few days of racing you just can't see anywhere else.
More than 650 historic racing cars are top of the bill (they can't alll be top of the bill, can they? Ed.) for this major annual rendezvous of clubs and families alike, as hundreds of historic vehicles will once again take to the circuit.
Cars to drool over include the Ford GT40, Jaguar E-Type, AC Cobra, Chevron B8, Brabham, Lola T70, and Ferrari 250LM, all of which will help to take us back into the heady atmosphere of post-war sports car racing.
Unlike many events, at Spa you can get right in among the cars, the crews and the action, as almost all areas of the circuit are open access (though not, naturally, the track itself); there are no barriers here, just a relaxed attitude and a friendly paddock.
During these three days, some 650 historic racing cars and more than 1000 drivers will be entertaining one and all on the renowned Ardennes circuit, but it's the endurance race held on Saturday 24th, from 16.00 to 22.00 (known as the Spa Six Hours Endurance Race) that is the highlight of the weekend.
To help make this fantastic weekend even better for PHers, the event organisers have agreed that all PH members will receive:
- A 10-euro discount on the entry fee (15 euros instead of 25 euros per person)
- A free t-shirt "PistonHeads - Spa Six Hours"
- A dedicated hospitality area where you can sit and relax for a while when at the circuit
Tickets are only available on the gate, so we will shortly be publishing a PH logo for you to present at the gate to claim your discount, and later on to gain access to the hospitality and to collect your free shirt.
If demand is strong this year, we may look to create a camping package for 2012. To help us get an idea of uptake, please add your name to the calendar here and we'll e-mail you all the PH logo when available, in addition to posting it on the homepage.
Thanks to the organisers at Spa and we hope to see many of you there later this year.
