This year is shaping up to be a great one for the car enthusiast. Le Mans and Goodwood may have already passed, but we still have the
Cholmondeley Pageant of Power
(CPoP to its friends) and a host of local events and Sunday Services still to come. So don't plan anything that's not car-related for your weekends just yet. In fact, make sure you keep the weekend of 15th-17th July free, as this is the weekend of Cholmondeley and - thanks to PH - you might just be able to attend for free.
A few weeks ago we gave you a sneak preview of what to expect , but what sets this event apart from the others is the fact that everyone who runs the course at CPoP really wants to set a fast time, and that means a huge amount of action taking place for the spectator.
In addition to a host of classic and racing metal, you'll see road cars like the Atom V8 and Gallardo Performante attempting to beat the current record, set in 2010 by a Gallardo Superleggera, which completed the course in 63.91 seconds.
No slow parades here; you need to be 'on it' from the start to be in with a chance of setting a respectable time. Another highlight is the 1969 Lotus 63 - an experimental F1 car designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Phillipe. Graham Hill flatly refused to drive the car after just one test drive describing it as a 'death trap'. Not sure who will be driving it at CPoP but we doff our hat to you!
And so to our fabulous money-can't-buy giveaway*. As a loyal PHer, you need a treat from time to time, so we have arranged one for you. Up for grabs we have:
- One main prize of Saturday Paddock tickets and fireworks concert tickets for a family (2 adults, 2 children - or merely 2 adult tickets if you don't have kids!)
- 5 pairs of Saturday or Sunday Paddock tickets
- 10 pairs of Park (no access to the Paddock area) tickets for Saturday or Sunday
To enter, all you need to do is e-mail
competitions@pistonheads.com
'CPoP' as the subject line
and your name and mobile number within the main email. At
we'll pick one winner and 15 runners-up from Riggers's slightly festering 2010 Caterham Academy race helmet. All winners will be notified on the same day.
If you fear that luck may not be on your side, you can still purchase tickets by clicking on this link
Thanks to the team at CPoP for making this happen and we look forward to seeing you at the show.
*The CPoP organisers wish us to point out that this is a lie. Because you can just buy a ticket for the event. Still, sounds good, doesn't it?
