This is the way to do motorsport. Not only did seven-time Pikes Peak class winner and Porsche guru Jeff Zwart demolish the production car record at this year's Pikes Peak by a full 24 seconds, he also did so having driven the car, a Porsche 911 GT2 RS all the way from Santa Ana in California, a distance of 1132 miles.
Zwart's time of 11mins 07.869secs (less than three seconds off the time set by Rod Millen in his competition-spec Hyundai Genesis) is all the more incredible given that the car is as production-spec as they come, right down to the sat-nav and air conditioning.
Okay, so the 911 GT2 is a road car that just happens to have a roll cage and 620hp engine, but let's not take anything away from what is an awesome achievement.
Drive from California to Colorado, stop at the closest Porsche dealers to Pikes Peak to give the car a once-over and to bung on some stickers, and go racing (well, sprinting). Genius.
