The sleek Kia GT concept that's been wowing and surprising showgoers at Frankfurt in equal measure recently could well go into production, at least once Kia gets its main model lines refreshed (a process it's mid-way through at the moment).
"Almost everyone has accepted the GT as being the right kind of car for Kia, and that says we're ready to stretch the brand further," Kia's European boss Paul Philpott has told Autocar. "If we can get the same reaction globally as we did in Frankfurt then the GT can play a key role in moving the whole brand forward."
Which could mean that the rear-wheel-drive, turbocharged 3.3-litre, 390bhp saloon will act as a halo model to help push the image of the brand beyond its current workaday position.
That's all well and good. But would people buy it over, say, a Jag, an Audi A7 or a Merc CLS? That is an entirely different question...
