Next year is looking like a busy one for Ducati and with all the hype surrounding its new top of the range superbike, the 1199 Panigale (named after the region in Bologna where Ducati are based), less exciting models are being hurried out before the main event. With this in mind Ducati has just released information on the new Hypermotard 1100EVO SP Corse Edition.
The Hypermotard is Ducati's answer to riders who want an impractical bike that is great fun and superb at stunts. The wide bars and relaxed riding position make it comfortable for a few miles, but the lack of wind protection and aggressive engine mean it's a bit 'all or nothing' to ride. That said, it's damn fine at wheelies...
So what do you get with the Corse Edition? This model continues Ducati's great tradition of giving an aging bike a lick of paint and calling it a special edition to revitalise sales. The Corse uses the same 1100cc air-cooled V-twin engine as the Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP and has the same chassis with an Öhlins shock, long travel Marzocchi forks, higher bars and increased ground clearance over the stock Hypermotard.
So what's the difference? Despite Ducati claiming suspension upgrades, it looks like the only variation over the SP is the Ducati Corse red/white/black paint scheme. No word on price yet but with the SP costing £10,995 expect the Corse Edition to be about the same!
