The next Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will get a 5.8-litre supercharged V8, it's been revealed, as the 2013 mustang (we presume this is American model years, meaning we'll see the car in 2012)
An agreement between the United Auto Workers union and Ford to invest $50 million in the Blue Oval's Romeo engine assembly plan specifies that the factory will build a 5.8-litre supercharged V8 for the next GT500.
Unfortunately, there's no further detail - and nothing about what sort of power we can expect from the car, but we can safely assume that it'll be somewhere in the ball park of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which arrives next year with 580bhp under its bonnet (sorry, hood).
