Off-road masters KTM have just pulled the covers off their latest concept, the Freeride.
What the hell is it? Basically, the Austrian company has tried to create an off-road bike that is a kind of hybrid between a true off-road motorcycle, a trials bike (the ones that climb up cliff faces and onto big tyres) and a lightweight road bike.
Weighing just 99kg and powered by a 350cc single cylinder fuel-injected engine with 24bhp the Freeride is aimed at anyone who wants to have a laugh off-road but without using an intimidating motocross machine. The Freeride is said to be lightweight, easy to handle and has better service intervals than something like a 300 EXC.
But what makes it sound even more fun is the fact it is road legal! According to KTM the 5.5 litre petrol tank should be good for 100 miles, and that’s a lot of wheelies… No word on price, but expect close to £6,000.
Oh, for inspiration on how to ride it, check out this video of ‘freestyle urban trials’ riding in Paris by Red Bull sponsored loony Julien DuPont. Got to love that soundtrack…
