EV-STER electric sports car concept
from the Tokyo show could make its debut as a production car during 2012. And there could even be a petrol version on the cards alongside the all-electric model
Honda boss Takanubo Ito, in an interview with German car mag
, revealed the production plans for the car, although he didn't go into much specific detail about the rear-wheel-drive roadster.
Seems that the EV-STER (presumably in both petrol and electric form) is part of Honda's drive to cut its range-wide CO2 emissions by 30 per cent by 2020. "CO2 reduction is the biggest challenge for Honda," Ito told the magazine. "Over the next three years the number one focus at Honda will be to minimise fuel consumption."
Not sexy stuff, we admit, but if that brings about a 21st-century take on the Honda Beat as well as a new NSX, we won't be complaining...
