While fans of rear-wheel-drive sportiness might lean towards the
new Code 130 R concept
at the Detroit show, those less fussed about rear-drive coupes might find this, the Tru 140 S concept, more appealing.
Beneath the sleek white bodywork are the same undergarments as you'd find in the humdrum Chevrolet Cruze hatchback, while the engine is the same 140hp 1.4-litre turbo four that powers the code 130 R (albeit this time driving the front wheels).
The idea behind offering such two different concepts, says Chevrolet, is to "inspire ideas and create discussion" and put "Next-Gen Buyers in Charge".
We rather like that idea, but hope that buyers are 'inspired' to go for the rear-drive version (though given the fact that the Tru runs on a platform that already exists we have a sneaky feeling that any production coupe might be front- rather than rear-wheel drive. These are straitened economic times, after all...).
