Citroen is set to show off a DS4 Racing hot hatch concept at the Geneva show. The double-chevron badge hasn't had much to fire the imagination of PHers in recent years, with the
arguable exception of the DS3 Racing
, but the DS4 Racing COncept looks set to change that.
How so? Well, its 1.6-litre turbo four makes 260hp (achieved with no hybrid trickery, too), which equates to more than 160hp per litre - a thoroughly healthy figure that's accompanied by an equally eco-friendly 155g/km of CO2..
And although this is just a concept at the moment, Citroen does describe this specific output as "a record for a Citroen series production car", so we think you'll be seeing one in a showroom at some point soon...
Whether that version will have the concept's carbon fibre air diffuser, front splitter and wheel arch extensions is another matter, of course, but we certainly hope that the tweaks to the chassis and running gear make it. These include lowering the car by 35mm, widening the track by 55mm at the front and 75mm at the rear and fitting a four-piston calipers and 380mm discs brakes to the front of the car.
So is Citroen finally making some capital from its status as the practically unchallenged kings of rallying? From the sound of the DS4 Racing, it seems like it just might be.
