A tip of the hat to the guys at
Axis Of Oversteer
for inspiring further fuel on the fire of our debate about
four wheels versus two at the 'ring.
And if your stomach has just about settled after watching the ludicrous sub-7:30 bridge-to-gantry bike lap here's the case for four wheels, aboard the mighty Viper ACR-X SRT.
Amusing how national stereotypes play out in all this lap time willy waggling too. While the Brits choose to set sub-seven minute times through plucky, lightweight guile (step up Radical) and the Italians exotic, hopped up supercars (Ferrari 599XX, Pagani Zonda R) the Americans do it the only way they know how – with a truck-engined, 8.4-litre monster. Fair play for the manual gearbox too – no flappy paddles for these boys. Given the monster engine 640hp seems a relatively tame power output, the Viper demonstrating the benefits of downforce. And a set of big, brass ones too.
And while purists might mutter ‘yeah, but none of these are proper road cars…’ the ACR-X’s street ACR equivalent is only 10 seconds slower.
Anyway, hold onto your Stetson and enjoy the vid…
