"UB40 sponsored the car through its whole life when James Prochowski had it and they sponsored James all the way through his rallying career. Unfortunately James died in 2006. I'm one of the managers of UB40. James was a friend of mine and we sponsored him. We were always on tour, so whenever he was out rallying we were away, but I followed the car and bought it last year because I wanted to have it back. Basically it is as it was when he ran it in 1985-86. This is the first time I've been out in it - that's why I can't keep it on the road! The thing is, though, it's a tarmac circuit and this is set up for gravel, so it's a lot harder to drive, but it's so much fun, I'm loving it! For the last five years I've had a TR7 V8. It is lovely, but this is just a hundred times more fun."
"I'm involved with Rallying with Group B and Slowly Sideways, but this is the first time the car's been out since I've had it. It's more of a real learning curve for me. I'm hoping to compete in it, I'm just frightened to bend it as you can't get anything for it, it's so rare you can't get any panels for it."
What did you make of today?
"I'm absolutely loving this. The car means a lot to me as it's a sentimental thing, I just wish he was here to appreciate it. I can't drive it anything like he did! I just love the car, it's phenomenal. It's a brilliant day. Just enough cars so you can get a good few runs and it's lovely. I'm actually liking it on the gravel tyres - if I do go off, I can get back on again!"
