Pricing has been revealed for the German-market version of Merc’s SLS AMG Black Series – it’ll cost €249,900 when it hits the road there this June.
Black Series will be on sale shortly
That means we can expect to see it costing somewhere between £220,000 and £230,000 when it goes on sale here. Mercedes tells us that that’ll happen soon, with the first orders being taken in around a month’s time, and deliveries following somewhere around August.
As we previously reported, the Black Series will get a 631hp version of the standard SLS’s 6.2-litre V8 that’ll feature a more aggressive camshaft, a beefed-up lubrication system, upgraded tappets and heftier conrods, all taken straight from the SLS GT3 racer. A number of weight-saving measures will also be incorporated throughout the car, which will include a titanium exhaust system and a welter of carbon fibre panelling, and together they’ll drop the car’s kerb weight by 70kg. Performance, therefore, won’t be shabby – the 62mph sprint will take a mere 3.6 seconds, with top speed coming in at 196mph
GT3-based engine will deliver 631hp
There’ll also be the usual mad aero package that’s become a hallmark of Black Series cars, of course, as well as a an electronically-locking diff, a modified six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, wider front & rear tracks, and stiffer coilover suspension. In short, it looks set to be bloomin’ fantastic. We can’t wait.
