Jim Glickenhaus has announced a new car that will succeed the
Ferrari P4/5
that he commissioned in 2006.
Glickenhaus confirmed the existence of the new car on Ferrari forum Ferrarichat.com. The new car, the P33, will officially be constructed by Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, the racing team Glickenhaus runs and has raced for in his P4/5 Competizione.
Modulo-style canopy planned
SCG has confirmed that it plans to construct the new car’s chassis and body from carbon fibre, with the aim of achieving a kerb weight of just 725kg. The new car will be significantly smaller than the P4/5, and will be powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine of as-yet unknown origin, that’ll produce somewhere in the region of 500hp. Whether the car will be in part or wholly based on an existing Ferrari road car is as yet unknown.
Perhaps the most striking feature of the new car, though, is set to be its doors. Or, rather, its lack of them, as SCG says it hopes to incorporate a sliding cockpit system similar to that seen on the 512 S Modulo concept car created by Pininfarina for the 1970 Geneva Motor Show.
The P33 will also be revealed at Geneva, if all goes to plan, though SCG says it won’t be ready until the 2015 show. And if you fancy one, you’re fresh out of luck – the new car is, Glickenhaus says, set to be a one-off.
