SRT has announced that it’ll launch a special edition version of the
Viper
. Called the Time Attack, or TA for short, it’ll be aimed specifically at track use and priced between the standard Viper and the more luxurious Viper GTS.
Limited-run TA will be set up for the track
Only 33 TAs will be produced, and each will feature the same 640hp 8.4-litre V10 as the standard car. However, the TA will also feature a track-specific suspension setup featuring a two-mode Bilstein Damptronic system, a carbon fibre X-brace, a Brembo brake upgrade and lightweight Sidewinder II alloy wheels. An aero package consisting of front splitters and a beefed-up rear spoiler will complete the picture. SRT even says it’s replaced the standard Viper badging with decals, to help save weight.
Mind you, the TA is only a 3kg lighter than the standard Viper, at 1,518kg, so we’re not sure that those badges will have made all that much difference. Still, the souped-up undergubbins should at least make the TA a little more focused out on the track. It’s no car for the shrinking violet, though – you can have any colour you like just as long as it's... ahem... Crusher Orange, with matching stitching squirted liberally throughout the TA’s interior.
'Crusher Orange' to be the only paint option
The new car will make its public debut at the New York Motor Show next week, and will then go on sale later in the year.
