Pininfarina Sergio
made its first appearance in Britain this weekend after its debut at the
Geneva motor show
. It was part of a collection of Pininfarina-designed vehicles, brought together to celebrate the late Sergio Pininfarina.
458-based Sergio made UK debut this weekend
The tribute was held at the Hurtwood Park Polo club in Surrey in a world record attempt at the largest collection of Pininfarina-designed cars in one place. The event featured some appropriately stunning cars; various Ferraris including a 250 GT SWB and 275 GTB and a plethora of classic Italian models such as the Lancia Aurelia B20, Alfa Romeo Duetto and Lancia Beta Montecarlo. One picture even shows a Peugeot 306 cabrio nestling in quite comfortably amongst half a dozen Ferraris. There were no Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin owners registered at the event...
Predictably, it was the Sergio that stole the show. Based on the Ferrari 458 Spider, a handful of production models will be made in the near future, returning Pininfarina to its coachbuilding roots.
Another Pininfarina tribute is scheduled for later this year, with a rally of Pininfarina cars driving from London to Monaco.
