So here we are; after the spy shots, speculation and 'leaked' images, BMW has finally revealed to the world what the M4 looks like
fully undisguised
. Resplendent in 'Aurum Dust', the M4 has been officially unveiled at Pebble Beach. As a concept. Yeah right, etc.
'Aurum Dust' is distinctive at least!
The latest images have been accompanied by a short
video walkaround
of the M4. We'll start at the back, as this is our first look. The arches are properly flared, working with the 20-inch wheels to give the M4 some real visual attitude that is perhaps lacking from the standard
4 Series
. An integrated bootlid spoiler, not dissimilar to that seen on the
M3 CSL
, also features. The recognisable M tailpipes are carbon fibre-housed and 'encompassed by the sculptural rear apron', with additional carbon at the rear diffuser.
Perhaps the biggest news from the latest video is at the side of the Concept M4 Coupe; behind those rim sit carbon ceramic brakes, the first time they have been offered by BMW on an M3 or equivalent. Allow a fair chunk in the options budget for those...
Elsewhere, the transformation from 4 Series to M4 is as we may have predicted. Sure, BMW mentions the improved aerodynamics and how the LED lights make it 'recognisable as a BMW M Automobile at very first glance', but there's nothing out of the ordinary about its added visual menace. Apart from seeing 'M4' badges, of course.
Dubious roof-mounted M stripe aside, the M4 looks pretty damn good in these latest shots. Take a look at the latest clip and let us know your thoughts below...
