Nothing planned for the weekend? You have some catching up to do then! PH has featured a whole plethora of Frankfurt debutants, another M135i battle and a 200mph Bentley drive over the past seven days, all collated here on the Motoring Week for your delectation.
Flying Spur just as impressive in Britain
It won't have escaped any car enthusiast that the Frankfurt show is imminent. Appropriately enough, a decent roster of British cars will make their debuts in Germany. The list includes Jaguar's BMW X3 rival, the
C-X17
Caterham Seven 165
Bentley Continental GT V8 S
, which boasts just a tad more power than the Seven at 528hp.
The Brit theme was established this week with a V8-powered Carpool and extended with the UK review of the Bentley Flying Spur. As well as the 165, Caterham has hinted at a supercar project too. We may have mentioned the McLaren P1 once or twice as well... Come on, it was Rush premiere week, what else did you expect?
However, the biggest news for PH as far as British cars are concerned this week was the exclusive details of the Zenos Project E10. An exciting new venture under the tutelage of Ansar Ali, it will feature plenty more on PH over the coming months.
Yes it has 700hp, but it's also 1,800kg...
Next week's motor show will also feature two cars we're already quite familiar with. The
Porsche 918 Spyder
makes its full production debut after seemingly infinite previews whilst Audi has rehashed the
Sport Quattro
concept; what was a lightweight, five-cylinder tribute to the Group B hero is now a 1,800kg V8 hybrid.
Though 300hp and 44mpg are certainly admirable stats, the revised Panamera Diesel is unlikely to make much impact at Frankfurt given the presence of the aforementioned 918. And whilst we're on the subject of Porsche, take a look at how a Cayman fared against our M135i. It wasn't an entirely conventional test, but it was certainly intriguing and a very tight contest.
But for close battles, surely the clash of 2014 will be Porsche 911 Turbo against the NISMO GT-R; production details of the latter were revealed this week, and the inevitable twin test is a mouthwatering prospect
The third Ferrari on PH since Monday...
There's one feature from the PH team that has predictably dominated our news this week. Chris Harris, Mark Hales, Anglesey plus the Ferrari F40 and F50 made for
a stunning video
. Our Monkey has been busy at the keyboard too, delivering a Spotted on a particularly special
Mitsubishi Evo IX
and updating us on life with a
512 TR
It's been a busy few days for the less glamorous members of the PH Fleet too, with Dale sneaking into a VLN practice in his E36 328i and the whole team getting acquainted with the Mini Clubvan. Following the Zenos reveal, Dan found a leftfield rival in the, erm, unique form of the KTM X-Bow. And on the British theme, Shed was back to the barges on Friday with an S-Type V8.
