A motor show wouldn't be a motor show without another limited edition Veyron and for Frankfurt 2013 it's business as usual at Bugatti. A warm hand please for the second in a six-part Bugatti series - the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse "Jean Bugatti" Legend Edition. This follows the Grand Sport Vitesse "Jean-Pierre Wimille" Legend Edition unveiled recently at Pebble Beach, celebrating the life of Bugatti's first Le Mans winner.
Yours for 2.28m euros, plus taxes and undisclosed 'other charges', like the other Legend Edition cars just three will be built.
Inspired by 'La Voiture Noire', the personal Type 57SC Atlantic of Ettore Bugatti's eldest son Jean, the Grand Sport Vitesse Jean Bugatti takes the base of the 1,200hp Grand Sport Vitesse and emulates Jean's famous car via the medium of black clearcoat carbon bodywork and platinum trim on the grille and badge on the rear. Nods to the original car - lost in the 'confusion' (Bugatti's words) of WWII - include the rosewood gear selector and upholstery colours. By the standards of recent Veyron limited editions the finished result is - relatively - subdued and understated.
According to Bugatti just four Type 57SC Atlantics were built between 1936 and 1938, La Voiture Noire being the first with two remaining. And valuable enough to make the new car's asking price seem like peanuts.
