We seem to have been waiting an eternity to know just how fast the 916hp McLaren P1 is. Today, with the first customer car being delivered, McLaren has released some official stats.
Yep, it's fast with a very, very large 'F'
How fast? Absurdly, ludicrously, wonderfully fast. Ignore the 2.8 second sprint to 62mph, how does 6.8 seconds to 124mph grab you? Or a sub-10 second quarter mile (9.8sec) at 152mph?
Perhaps most astounding of all though is the 0-186mph figure; 16.5 seconds is 5.5 seconds quicker than an F1 can manage. Top speed is limited (!) to 217mph.
Then there's braking and efficiency to consider also. McLaren claims the P1 can stop from 62mph in just 30 metres, presumably with the driver grimacing in pain for every single one. The P1's hybrid drivetrain allows for an 11km (6.8-mile) electric-only range, contributing to an NEDC CO2 rating of 194g/km. Combined MPG is 34mpg, only 0.4mpg behind a Porsche Boxster 2.7. Phenomenal.
So now, with the motor show unveil, the first customer delivery and the performance figures released, the only thing left now is to actually drive a P1. As soon as we do, you'll be the first to know.
