Maybe it's the Gran Turismo link, but there's always something quite exciting about a racing Corvette. With the
C7 Stingray
now reaching American customers and due in the UK soon, the first images have emerged of the C7.R.
At present, we don't know if this is an official pic or not, with one source suggesting it's a rendered image. Either way, the two cars here look fantastic with their jagged yellow and black liveries and sponsor logos.
There's nothing yet on spec, but it's expected the latest racer should use a development of the 5.5-litre V8 from the C6.R and will be built by Pratt & Miller. The 'flexfuel' badging would suggest it can run on petrol and/or ethanol.
The C7.R should feature again at Le Mans, providing a thunderous riposte to the hybridised prototype cars. Before then, it will compete in the Tudor United Sportscar Championship, the US series that replaces both the Grand Am and ALMS. It's the same championship that Ford's Daytona prototype will compete in. Two cars in and it promises to be a rather exciting series!
