With two big motor shows at Tokyo and LA just a fortnight away, expect a feast of new concepts and production cars over the next couple of weeks. They're already influencing our weekly mix of drives, news and opinions, so sit back and enjoy!
'One of the most complete cars on sale'
A week crammed with news and reviews of British cars on PH since Monday, We've driven the new
Aston Vanquish Volante
Range Rover Sport SDV8
, plus seen the first official pics of the Jaguar
F-Type coupe
Caterham Bikes
Following our first drive, the interweb was trawled for Seven 160 reviews in our latest What They're Saying. It reminds us that Caterham still knows its basics, despite the motorbike weirdness.
It was with rather less pleasure that we had to report the original Land Rover Freelander as the worst used car in Britain. Also not happy was Chris Harris, who has been left scratching his head at McLaren's launch of the P1.
Lexus pitches itself against the A5
With both the Tokyo and LA motor shows coming up, there's been plenty of news around potential show stars. The
Lexus RC
will undoubtedly attract some attention, though perhaps not for all the right reasons. It will share the Lexus stand with the
LF-NX concept
, now fitted with a new turbo engine. The latest
Nissan Qashqai
has also been revealed this week.
Away from the British and Japanese models, a couple of interesting German features. The B7 generation of Audi RS4 was the subject of our most recent PH Buying Guide, and we've driven the Golf GTD and 585hp E63 AMG S too.
Blue-sky thinking required for BX ownership
All sorts going on within the PH team this week. After his drive of the Vanquish Volante, Dan spoke with the Aston engineers about not
using eight-speed autos
. Chris Harris's video this week is the
Drayson EV
and Matt has been pondering the future (again) of his
Shed-spec Civic
. There's also been a Fleet update on the
BX GTI
, which has developed a smoking habit...
We've had another Dream Drive this week, featuring the enviable combination of the Welsh valleys and a 911 GT3. If that whets your appetite, be sure to watch our latest Pure Driving Experiences vid also.
But PH is all about the PHers, so there's been plenty just for you this week too. We've had an update from Matt Purdon, our Adrian Flux competition winner. There's still time to win some winter tyres courtesy of Dunlop and, if your clothing is also unprepared for the looming winter, how about a jumper from the PH shop? You'll be the envy of your fellow PHers at the upcoming Beaulieu Sunday Service...
Don't forget also to check out this week's Shed, a very special Sierra Cosworth, a BMW Carpool, and a round-up from the Milan bike show with PH2. More of the same next week!
- Peugeot RCZ R driven
