The new Ford F-150 is perhaps the most significant American car launched at Detroit. Sure, we love ogling 600hp Corvettes and the latest Mustang, but the F-Series truck is massive for Ford in every sense. Always has been, always will be.
This latest promo vid deserved an Ad Break slot as it's just so unashamedly arrogant and self-aggrandising. We know it's a success, Ford knows it's a success, so why not just promote that a teeny bit further?
There are also some amazing stats on offer. For example, if you lined up each F-150 sold in 2013 nose-to-tail, it would stretch from Los Angeles to New York. An F-Series truck is sold every 41 seconds. It is the Future of Tough. Says Ford.
With the new F-150, there's just more of everything. More engine choice, more payload, more towing capacity, more LEDs. It's apparently more efficient too, though Ford won't say by how much.
With its intense backing music and mention of 'Truck apps', an '8-inch productivity screen' and a 'military-grade alloy body', it's almost enough to make you pack it all in and give the American Dream a real go. Make ours a red double-cab V8 please Ford.
