We, and probably a great deal of you, are aching to know what the
BMW M4
is like. Will that turbocharged straight-six respond properly? What will the carbon brakes be like? Manual or DCT?
BMW seems especially keen to eke out the frustration for a little longer. So after the official unveiling, the Detroit debut and then the European motor show premiere, this is the first UK video of the M4.
Except it also features BMW's M lap timer app and, really, it ruins the video. Just when the M4 is balanced in a beautiful oversteer arc, the screen is overrun with silly acceleration and G-force graphics. Then Andy Priaulx has to talk about it. Annoying.
But there are some positives to draw from this short clip. In red with black wheels and being driven fast, the M4 looks brilliant. The sound from inside is encouraging (when it can be heard over Priaulx) and it would appear the manual gearbox can be shifted fairly quickly. The signs are good basically; did you expect anything less?
So then BMW, when can we actually drive one?
