After another dominant display in qualifying, the only hope for the rest of the grid was the fact that Marquez usually struggles at Jerez. Usually...
The first lap and Rossi stuffing it up the inside of Marc was a great sight, could he stick it out? Another bit of fairing bashing on lap two saw Rossi keep the lead while behind him Lorenzo was looking to get involved. Then Marc made it through.
Pedrosa chasing down Lorenzo
With clear air ahead, Marc started to put together the fast laps but Rossi, Lorenzo and Pedrosa were doing their best to make a race of it. Which was better than Cal. A few laps in and Cal was forced to retire due to brake issues, showing his frustration with his Ducati through a bit of tank punching which probably won't do his injured hand any good...
With only a handful of laps down, the race for the win was effectively over as Marc had a clear lead, meaning, bar mechanical issues, it was now a fight for second place between Rossi, Lorenzo and Pedrosa.
The mid-section of the race was a bit of a procession, however Smith keeping hold of seventh spot from Bradl and Bautista was an entertaining battle and seeing Rossi out-ride Lorenzo was also quite pleasing. Well, for Rossi fans. Poor old Lorenzo is having a bit of a nightmare 2014 so far.
In the end Marc took an easy win, Rossi an elated second and Pedrosa third in what wasn't a brilliant MotoGP for race fans aside from the first few laps and the last lap battle dice between Rossi and Pedrosa. Oh, and Marc's awesome stand up victory wheelie.
Marquez remains dominant in MotoGP 2014
The Moto2 grid saw Lowes qualify better than last week and if he could get a good start, hopefully he could secure a solid finish. An on-form Kallio led from flag to flag in a pretty uneventful race while Sam Lowes tipped off and Gino Rea finished 26th.
Moto3 and an upset Jack Miller was looking to restamp his authority back on the field. Starting from pole, Miller took the early lead with Vazquez on his tail, Fenati in close attention and the Brits of Kent and McPhee just outside the top 10. A few laps in and Miller was starting to look a bit off form as he dropped down the order and Fenati took the lead. With a pack of five riders entering the last lap together, it looked like a repeat of Argentina's antics was on the cards. In the end the predicted carnage didn't happen and Fenati took the win from Vazquez and Rins.
