As well as underrated road cars, Alpine too produced rally cars that somehow escape popular recognition too. At the first event of the FIA World Rally Championship, the 1973 Monte Carlo rally, Alpine A110s took all three podium places.
The car in this video from German Alpine specialists alpinelab, featuring a restored A110 that originally built for the 1975 Safari rally. You can read the restoration blog in all its awkwardly Translated glory here which looks suitably comprehensive.
The video itself is a little indulgent, with dramatic backing music and lots of detail shots. But the driving sections are more than worth it, the dainty little A110 parping its way along with foglamps ablaze. The other three videos on alpinelab's channel are worth a watch too (we had to check, obviously).
