Why I chose it:

"It was a close call between this example and the rather fetching blue one also for sale in the classifieds, however this particular one ticks two boxes it one hit. Firstly its read to roll as what looks like a fantastic car for track day hooliganism, and secondly as we know every PHer should own an Alfa. I've run an Integrale before, and have bit bitten by the horrendous running costs of Italian sports cars, maybe the rest of the balance should be kept for repairs, but where's the fun in that. So let's spend some more. (N.B Duncan's original car is no longer available so it's been substituted for the, er, rather fetching blue one. His first choice was £27,000 and this is £29,995 which has meant going slightly over budget as there's a sub below as well. But how could we not include this?).

B7 Audi RS4 Avant

Why I chose it:

I looked at a B6 S4 a while back, which I recently saw re-advertised by the same seller whom had to do £4k of repairs to it a couple of months after my viewing, so that was a bullet dodged. However the desire to own a V8 estate is becoming too much, and I reckon this one would excel at lugging my surfboards and mountain bikes around Scotland whilst emitting a nice burble from the exhaust.

Porsche 911 S

Why I chose it:

The 911 is just a beautiful car, and apart from the Singer they do not get more prettier than the late 60s, early 70s models. This would be a perfect car for sunday afternoon jaunts through the highlands.

Triumph Street Triple
Cost: £4,900

Why I chose it:

The desire to learn to ride a motorbike is often neutralised by the knowledge that I would crash at the first corner in a ball of flames. But if you're going to do it then go big or go home (or A&E), and I just love the looks of the Street Triples. The next purchase would be my DAS licence and a whole of load of protective apparel to lessen the impact of my face and body on the tarmac. (Another sub here unfortunately. Duncan's original Street Triple was £4,900 but has sold. This replacement is £4,495 which puts the final budget at £100,480; that Alfa was the problem!).
