It's Wilton weekend! With the
Classic Supercar
show primed to be the most exciting yet, especially with a new rally stage added, it should be a great day. Fingers crossed the sunshine remains. [Er, Matt, you seen the forecast? - Ed.]
Anyway, before you head on down to Salisbury catch up on anything you may have missed since Monday on PH. This week we've had car reviews, previews, interviews and all the latest leading up to Pebble Beach too. See everything here!
Harris will be doing this soon
Whether by label or design, GT cars have featured quite a bit on PH this week. Having built what he believes to be the ultimate retro modern GT, David Brown has more plans for the company's future. Read them all in our
PH Meets
Despite its name, the Mercedes-AMG GT won't be a pan-European cruiser in the old sense. It's of course a sports car to take on the best Porsche and Jaguar have to offer. Having experienced it from the passenger seat, Harris is very keen to try the new GT from the other seat. Not long to wait now!
The Aston Martin Vanquish has received a vital change in boosting its GT credentials with the ZF eight-speed auto. And if you prefer tours on two wheels, the Honda CTX1300 may be worth a look.
The last Legends Edition. Definitely. Maybe
It says something about this week's news that a production car with 1,200hp is the second most powerful we've been discussing. That would be the
Ettore Bugatti edition
of the Veyron Grand Sport, the last of the 'Legends Edition' cars. How many Veyrons are actually left?
It was trumped by the Hennessey Venom F5, an update of the original Venom that's likely to have around 1,400hp. It's aiming for 290mph... Back down at just 1,000hp, McLaren showed the P1 MSO before a Pebble Beach first look. We wouldn't be surprised if a few similar ones emerged!
But if one car proves power isn't everything, it's the Mazda MX-5. Following its '270' turbo upgrade, BBR has now launched its Super 200 normally aspirated package for the 2.0-litre Mk3s. Takes power to exactly the same as a GT86 in fact... And on sports car Audi has also released all the specs of the TT Mk3. It's lighter and quicker than before, so let's hope for a great sports car straight out of the box.
Contribute your thoughts to the hot hatch debate!
Talk of mega hypercars has got Harris of all people concerned; read his thoughts
here.
He's also posted a Fleet update on the
Range Rover Autobiography
Just a few weeks in and already James is putting the cat amongst the pigeons. Is he right to say new hot hatches just aren't as much fun as they were? If you do agree, the 205 GTI POTW should suit just nicely.
In anticipation of driving a R35 NISMO, Dan indulged himself in a little GT-R nostalgia with a 'Hakosuka' Skyline Spotted and a Calsonic R32 Time For Tea? Following another eventful Caterham Academy race and with just two left, Matt is already eyeing up future track cars; 300hp Rover SD1 perhaps?
And if you still have some spare time before heading to Wilton, do check out our £100K Garages (Wednesday and Friday), an MR2 Shed, our new Delivery Miles feature and PH Carpool.
