The big talking point of the Indy MotoGP race was Cal Crutchlow's decision to jump ship from Ducati to Honda. It must have been a frosty old atmosphere in the Ducati garage, especially when Cal found out that he wasn't getting the new higher spec motor...
Dani Pedrosa finished fourth
Politics aside, would the summer break do anything to dent Marc Marquez's unbelievable run of form? With his Honda on pole position you had to think not, although a terrible start certainly wasn't in the plan!
The first lap saw Rossi leading the way from Dovi and Innone, who were both using the new Ducati engine. Had Yamaha also updated? Rossi certainly looked quick in a straight line and led for the first five laps before Dovi made it past. However the cheers from Bologna were quickly silenced when Rossi and Dovi touched, letting you know who through to lead the race. A few corners later and Rossi was back at the front, cutting off Marc's chance of checking out.
By mid race the Ducati charge was over and it was Rossi, Marquez and Lorenzo at the front with Jorge looking more than a little feisty. After a bit of argy bargy, Marc emerged in the lead with Rossi demoted to second and Lorenzo third. The bad news for the guys behind him was that Marc now had clear air ahead and a few meters gap behind...
Despite a valiant effort by Lorenzo, once Marc was in the lead the race was effectively over. Ten from ten for the wonder kid and the records keep falling.
Over in Moto2 and what the hell was going on with Aegerter's hideous day glo paint scheme? The winner of the last Moto2 race must have scared Kallio so much he was desperate to clear off for fear of going blind. After a red flag brought an end to the race and forced a restart, Kallio once again got a flier and led for the whole race to take the win. Second spot went to Vinales with Aegerter third.
The Moto3 race saw Jack Miller looking to make it two race wins on the bounce and starting from pole his chances were strong, especially after a rocket start. The Moto3 race rapidly developed into a seven bike scrap for most of the race and entering the last lap it was still there for anyone. In the end Vazquez slipstreamed for the win from Fenati with Miller in third.
