If you hadn't already realised one of the most exciting motor shows in living memory was shortly to be upon us Geneva 2015 will shortly be completely inescapable. Get yourself up to speed on
our preview page
, which collects all the big stories in one place, and then let your excitement build. Seriously, if PistonHeads did motor shows this year's Geneva would be it. We have been talking about other stuff too though, honest...
As the excitement ramps up for that there motor show this week saw an unprecedented run of PHey cars being announced. Audi teased
the second-gen R8
preview feature
ridealong
went live later in the week. That was just the start though. Full details of the heavily updated
400hp Evora ... 400
went live and we also got the full story on the
Aston Martin Vantage GT3
. Then McLaren confirmed further details of
the P1 GTR
- including a very cool Le Mans inspired livery - and we got another teaser on
the AMG GT3
. At a rather more real world end of the scale Skoda confirmed the Octavia vRS - a popular car on PH - will be uprated with a
new vRS 230
with, you guessed it, 230hp and the Golf GTI Performance's trick VAQ 'diff'. And there's more to come next week. Phew.
Believe it or not there was more to this week than Geneva unveils, Chris Rees taking a look at
zero miles classics
to combine two PH threads in one - Delivery Miles and Under The Hammer. We also enjoyed some
retro DTM action
on the Nurburgring and brought you UK roadtests on the
SEAT Leon Cupra ST
Mercedes GLA45 AMG
. "The clickbait is strong with this one!" said the opening comment in the thread that followed the latter; 79 comments and some fierce debate on the merits of fast crossovers proved that to be an accurate prediction! We also celebrated the
Vauxhall Astra GTE 16V
as a - possibly unsung - PH Hero and enjoyed a couple more quality dream
£100K Garages
We were certainly kept busy with all the Geneva stuff but Dan found time
to blog
about the merits (or otherwise) of manufacturers trying to sex up their road cars by association with racing drivers or famous events. James meanwhile introduced the latest member of the PH Fleet - 'his' new
Volvo V60 Polestar
- while Danny Milner bid a bittersweet farewell to
the Clio 200
we've been running for the last year.
